Position Overview
Medscape is seeking a Senior Editor to join the Primary Care and Perspectives teams. The role involves editing opinion commentaries, collaborating with healthcare professionals (HCPs), generating unique content ideas (including text and video formats), and handling various editorial tasks. The Senior Editor will ensure all content aligns with Medscape’s mission and maintains its position as a trusted leader in medical information for professional audiences worldwide.

The Senior Editor will ensure all content aligns with Medscape’s mission and maintains its position as a trusted leader in medical information for professional audiences worldwide.
What you’ll be doing
- Spearhead editorial efforts for HCP perspectives across primary care, internal medicine, family medicine, men’s health, women’s health, and paediatrics. This includes managing commentaries and video content, developing new series, and maintaining relationships with physician contributors.
- Oversee content programming, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
- Track and analyze content performance, using insights to guide future content creation.
- Collaborate with member marketing on targeted outreach strategies.
- Partner with product and technology teams to enhance content delivery and explore innovative approaches.
- Build relationships with internal stakeholders, vendors, and other journalists to form key editorial partnerships.
- Network with physicians to recruit new contributors.
- Provide additional support for editorial and administrative tasks, including budget management, social media, and policy development.
What you’ll need to bring to the role
- Ideally 8+ years of experience in medical news reporting or editing, with a focus on content for clinicians and a strong digital content strategy background.
- Experience managing a team of writers, editors, and operational staff.
- In-depth understanding of audience engagement and marketing channels in relation to content.
- Budgeting and financial management experience.
- Exceptional editorial judgment with a sharp eye for detail, ensuring accuracy and readability.
- Experience mentoring writers to deliver high-quality outcomes.
- Solid knowledge of primary care, experience with Tableau and analytics tools, and proficiency with Google Suite and publishing systems.
This role is ideal for someone with a deep understanding of healthcare journalism, a talent for managing digital content strategies, and a passion for medical information as well as possessing a strong knowledge of primary care combined with experience using Tableau and various analytics tools. You are also a skilled operator working with a variety of content types and are familiar with Google Suite as well as other publishing systems.
